A Hidden Order @ Exploring The Sacred Arts Of Islam
‘A Hidden Order’ were down in Glastonbury earlier this month for the ‘Exploring The Sacred Arts Of Islam’ festival. During the day we had great fun running a workshop on music and geometry, and that evening we were lucky enough to be joined onstage for an impromptu performance of Persian Classical music/improvisation by the Setar player Bahman Panahi, as a prelude to our live audio-visual show which closed the festival. Thanks are due to both the Chalice Well Trust and the Red Brick Building for hosting the event, accommodating us and keeping us fed and watered. Hopefully we’ll have more dates for you soon, keep watching this space…

CoMA Sussex 10th Anniversary Concert
Brighton’s no.1 pianist/mover+shaker in the contemporary music scene, Adam Swayne (who very recently premiered my new work for piano ‘A Line Drawn In Water’) has roped me into being the narrator in what should be a fun celebration of the 10th anniversary of CoMA Sussex. I’ll be narrating works by Byrne (In The Future) and Cheesman (Postlude) at St John sub Castro, Lewes, Sunday 28th June 6pm (basically, today). Come along anyone who cares to hear me yell stuff down a megaphone over a chamber orchestra.

‘Stranger’ @ Fishbar, Dalston, 21-31 May
I have been working with musical comrade Jules Arthur on the sound design for ‘Stranger’, a new book and installation by Magnum photographer Olivia Arthur. The photos follow the imagined story of a survivor of the MV Dara (a real boat which sank off the coast of Dubai in 1961, taking the lives of some 250 of its passengers), who somehow returns 50 years on, trying to make sense of the modern-day Dubai which as risen from the desert sands.
The exhibition will run from 21st-31st May at Fishbar, 176 Dalston Lane, E8 1NG, London, with a launch event on Saturday 23rd at 2-6pm. Find out more HERE.
